What's New - January 2012

Unfortunately, after a visit from an unknown animal - possibly a very small fox, but I am more inclined to think of a mink or similar - I am left with only two muscovy ducks. One boy, and one girl, both hatched out by my lovely Priscilla last summer. Thankfully, they are totally unrelated, so I am able to begin to build up numbers again. The orchard fence has been patched up, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that
I don’t have to resort to getting the incubator out. Muscovies are usually very good broody mums, but obviously this little girl hasn’t even laid an egg yet, so
I can’t expect too much of her.
She hasn’t even got a name yet ................. !

After what has been a very mild start to the winter, we have finally had a few frosty mornings and crisp, clear nights, so we’ve
been snuggling up in front of the fire of
an evening.
When we’re allowed to get near it, that is !?!
